37° JIC Bulkhead 90° Elbow - Part 2701

Part Number: 2701

37° JIC Bulkhead 90° Elbow

Product Overview

The Delphi Fittings Part 2701 is a 37° JIC Bulkhead 90° Elbow, engineered to create a right-angle connection for hydraulic lines passing through panels, bulkheads, or equipment walls. This fitting features male JIC 37° flare connections on both ends and includes a locknut for secure mounting to the panel. It allows for a 90-degree change in direction immediately at the panel pass-through point, optimizing line routing in confined spaces. Constructed from high-quality carbon steel with zinc plating for corrosion resistance, the Part 2701 ensures a durable and leak-resistant connection conforming to SAE J514 standards.

Key Features & Specifications

Material High-Grade Carbon Steel
End 1 Configuration Male 37° JIC Flare (per SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2)
End 2 Configuration Male 37° JIC Flare (per SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2)
Angle 90 Degrees between ends, with one end passing through the bulkhead.
Body Style 90° Bulkhead Elbow with integral hex on one side of the bulkhead mount and a separate locknut.
Sealing Mechanism JIC Ends: Metal-to-metal seal on the 37° flare cones with mating female JIC swivel nuts/flared tubes.
Bulkhead Seal: Relies on the locknut compressing the fitting shoulder against the panel. For enhanced environmental sealing at the panel, an appropriate flat washer or sealant may be considered by the user.
Corrosion Protection Standard Zinc Plating
Included Component Locknut (e.g., Part #306 JIC Bulkhead Locknut)
Primary Function To create a 90-degree, through-panel connection for JIC hydraulic lines, secured by a locknut.
Working Pressure Suitable for high-pressure hydraulic applications. Specific ratings vary by size.

Commonly Available Sizes (Part #2701 Series)

Delphi Fittings offers the 37° JIC Bulkhead 90° Elbow in a variety of common JIC sizes. Both JIC ends are the same size.

Examples include (Male JIC x Male JIC):

  • 2701-04: 1/4" (7/16-20 UNF) JIC Male
  • 2701-06: 3/8" (9/16-18 UNF) JIC Male
  • 2701-08: 1/2" (3/4-16 UNF) JIC Male
  • 2701-10: 5/8" (7/8-14 UNF) JIC Male
  • 2701-12: 3/4" (1-1/16-12 UNF) JIC Male
  • 2701-16: 1" (1-5/16-12 UNF) JIC Male

Applications

The Part 2701 JIC Bulkhead 90° Elbow is extensively used for:

  • Routing hydraulic lines through equipment walls, vehicle chassis, or control panels where an immediate 90-degree turn is necessary on one side of the panel.
  • Providing a fixed, right-angle connection point on a panel for hydraulic hoses or tubes, ensuring neat and secure line management.
  • Optimizing space and line routing in compact hydraulic systems by minimizing bend radii of hoses or tubes near the bulkhead.
  • Commonly found in mobile machinery, agricultural equipment, control boxes, industrial equipment, and vehicles where JIC connections need to pass through a barrier with a directional change.

Installation & Usage Guidelines

  • Drill or punch an appropriately sized hole in the panel or bulkhead to accommodate the fitting's threaded body.
  • Ensure the panel surface around the hole is clean and flat.
  • Insert the threaded body of the bulkhead elbow through the hole from the desired side.
  • Slide the locknut over the protruding threads on the opposite side of the panel and tighten it securely against the panel surface. Use a wrench on the fitting's hex body (on the other side of the panel) to prevent the elbow from turning while tightening the locknut.
  • Ensure all JIC flare ends and mating female JIC sealing surfaces (cone inside the swivel nut) are clean, undamaged, and free of contaminants.
  • Connect the male JIC ends of the bulkhead elbow to the female JIC swivel nuts on the hoses or tubes. It is advisable to apply a light coat of system-compatible lubricant (e.g., hydraulic oil) to the threads of the female swivel nuts (not to the flare sealing surfaces) to ensure smooth tightening and prevent galling.
  • Tighten each JIC nut to the manufacturer's recommended torque or by using the "Flats From Wrench Resistance" (FFWR) method.
  • No thread sealant is used on JIC flare connections as the seal is achieved by the metal-to-metal contact of the flare.

Why Choose Delphi Fittings Part 2701?

  • Space-Saving 90° Design: Combines a 90-degree elbow with a bulkhead mounting function, ideal for optimizing routing in tight installations.
  • Secure Panel Mounting: Offers a stable and fixed 90-degree pass-through point for JIC hydraulic lines, enhancing system organization and reducing stress on connections.
  • Reliable JIC Sealing: Utilizes the industry-proven SAE J514 37° flare metal-to-metal seal for dependable, high-pressure performance.
  • Complete Assembly: Includes the necessary locknut, simplifying the procurement and installation process.
  • Durable Construction: Manufactured from high-grade carbon steel for robustness and longevity, with standard zinc plating for effective corrosion resistance.
  • Standard Compliance: Adheres to SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 standards, ensuring interchangeability and compatibility with other standard JIC components.
  • Quality Manufacturing: Produced under Delphi Fittings' stringent ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system.
