- Slide the locknut over the protruding threads on the opposite side of the panel and tighten it securely against the panel surface. Use a wrench on the fitting's hex body (on the other side of the panel) to prevent the elbow from turning while tightening the locknut.
- Ensure all JIC flare ends and mating female JIC sealing surfaces (cone inside the swivel nut) are clean, undamaged, and free of contaminants.
- Connect the male JIC ends of the bulkhead elbow to the female JIC swivel nuts on the hoses or tubes. It is advisable to apply a light coat of system-compatible lubricant (e.g., hydraulic oil) to the threads of the female swivel nuts (not to the flare sealing surfaces) to ensure smooth tightening and prevent galling.
