Brass NPT and NPTF Fittings for Production Supply

Delphi Fittings manufactures brass NPT and NPTF pipe fittings in Zhejiang, China for OEM buyers, industrial distributors and private-label programs. Available configurations include plugs, nipples, couplings, adapters, elbows, tees and crosses for compatible pneumatic, instrumentation and general fluid-service systems.

Application approval is part-specific. Do not assign a pressure, temperature, potable-water, fuel-gas or chemical-service rating from the material name alone. Confirm the exact alloy, size, thread standard, mating component, medium and applicable code before ordering.

NPT and NPTF are both 60° tapered American pipe-thread families, but they are governed by different specifications and sealing assumptions. The purchase order should state NPT or NPTF explicitly rather than treating the terms as interchangeable.

NPT vs NPTF Brass Fittings: Specification Guide

NPT and NPTF are tapered American pipe threads with a 60° profile, but the standards control different thread details. ASME B1.20.1 covers general-purpose NPT dimensions and gauging. SAE J476 defines Dryseal forms, including controlled crest and root truncation intended to create metal-to-metal contact before or with flank contact.

Thread familyPrimary referenceSelection pointRFQ requirement
NPTASME B1.20.1General-purpose tapered pipe thread; sealing practice depends on the complete assembly and approved sealantState NPT explicitly, including nominal size and gender
NPTF / DrysealSAE J476Controlled crest/root truncation distinguishes the Dryseal thread formState the complete NPTF form and mating connection; do not substitute NPT by assumption
NPSM swivel mating endPart-specific 30° seat connectionThe straight thread retains the swivel while the 30° seat forms the sealVerify that the male pipe fitting actually includes the required 30° seat

Functional Comparison with Brennan Brass Pipe Fittings

Delphi products are generally developed around Brennan-style specifications when a customer requests an equivalent. Brennan's current pipe-fitting catalog identifies brass as an available material and separates couplings, nipples, male-to-female adapters, reducer bushings and plugs by complete NPTF function. For example, Brennan 5405 is a male NPTF 30° x female NPTF adapter; its “-B” suffix identifies a brass version.

Brennan is a trademark of its respective owner. References are for functional identification and buyer cross-checking only; Delphi Fittings is not claiming affiliation or universal interchangeability.

Material and Application Controls

“Brass” is not a complete material specification. Alloy composition affects machinability, strength, corrosion behavior and regulatory suitability. Potable-water, fuel-gas, oxygen, refrigerant and other regulated applications require the buyer to specify the applicable alloy, certification and code requirements. Delphi does not represent every catalog item as automatically approved for those services.

Factory Supply for Brass NPT & NPTF Programs

Delphi Fittings supplies brass NPT and NPTF pipe fittings from Zhejiang, China for North American distributors, OEM buyers and private-label programs. We help buyers specify the tapered thread, fitting configuration and material requirement for plumbing, air, fuel and low-pressure connection applications.

Delphi controls machining, dimensional and thread verification, final inspection and export coordination for the supplied fittings. Where a forged blank is required, it is sourced from a qualified external partner. Send the part number or drawing, complete thread callouts, brass alloy, compliance requirements and quantity for review.
